Assemblyman David W. Wolfe was born on October 11, 1942 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.  He attended public schools there and graduated from Westminster College in 1964.  In 1967 he received a master's degree in education at the University of Delaware.  He also participated in the Honor Program at American University in 1963, and took doctoral studies in education at Rutgers University.  Currently he is a professor of psychology at Ocean County College in Toms River.

Assemblyman Wolfe served on the Brick Township Council from 1976 to 1991, and was council president from 1980 to 1981 and from 1987 to 1988.  He is now entering his eighth term in the Assembly.  Currently he serves as Assistant Republican Leader.

Assemblyman Wolfe's various appointments and memberships include the following: former chairman of the State Beach Erosion Commission, chairman of the Commission on Business Efficiency of the Public Schools, member of the Governor's Advisory Panel on Higher Education Restructuring, member of the Joint Committee on Public Schools, Advisory Board member of Health South Rehabilitation Hospital, board member of Ocean Federal Foundation, Preferred Behavioral Services Board of Directors, member of the Brick Township Republican Club and former member of the Brick Township Jaycees and Lions.

Assemblyman Wolfe has been honored with the Association of Retarded Citizens Humanitarian Award, and the Ocean County College Alumni Distinguished Service Award.  In 1995, Assemblyman Wolfe was named Brick Township's Republican of the Year.

In 1984, the assemblyman married the former Carol A. Carmilli.  His children are John, Karen, Laura, Elise, David and Jonathan.
