Press conference to discuss the corzine administration's new school funding formula plan
assemblyman jon bramnick will join long hill township mayor george vitureira and other local district 21 officials to discuss governor jon corzine's new school funding formula plan. assemblyman eric munoz, md, may also attend.
bramnick and munoz, both r-union, morris, somerset and essex, and vitureira have serious concerns about he proposed formula and how it will affect communities in the 21st district.
The legislature is scheduled to vote on the plan on Monday, january 7, 2008, even though the final draft of the bill has not yet been printed.
Bramnick said, "The rush to vote before a public discussion is the new trademark of Trenton politics and is simply wrong." *He noted that the new funding proposal will require an additional 4580 million, but the governor has not yet indicted a funding source. Under the plan, many school districts will receive only a 2 percent increase after several years of flat funding. |
