A practicing attorney, Dawn Marie Addiego was sworn as a member of the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders on January 1, 2000. She was sworn as Director by her colleagues on January 1, 2002. As Freeholder Director, she was instrumental in drafting a 2002 county budget which cut the county tax rate by more than two cents. She was re-elected in November 2005 to her third three-year term. Dawn Addiego was a member of Evesham Township Council from 1993 to 2000.
She has promoted a new 2-1-1 emergency phone number for Burlington County residents seeking help from human services agencies. In addition, her efforts to better control the county’s animal population and rabies lead to a major expansion and upgrade of the County’s Animal Shelter in Westampton.
Dawn Addiego is involved in many civic and charitable organizations, including United Way of Burlington County, as a Campaign Cabinet Member and Public Service Chair (2005 to present); Burlington County Advisory Council on Women “Reach for the Stars” Mentoring Event Speaker (2004 to present); Center for the Arts of Southern New Jersey, Board of Directors (2003 to present); Center for the Arts of Southern New Jersey, Annual “Run for the Roses” Fundraiser Chair (2003 to present); and was a member of the American Cancer Society’s board of directors from 1993 to 2003. She was also co-chair of the Olde Marlton Fall Festival from 1996 to present and is co-founder and vice-president of an animal adoption center in South Jersey. Named as one of South Jersey Magazine’s “Top Politicians to Watch in 2007, she is a recipient of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Americanism Award, Judge Lester A. Drenk Visionary Award for Outstanding Leadership in the Community, and the Outstanding Service Award given by the Women’s League of Evesham.
A graduate of Villanova University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, she pursued her law degree at the Delaware Law School of Widener University, where she earned her J.D. in 1987.
Dawn Marie Addiego resides in Evesham with her husband, Dan, and daughter, Morgan Maree.
