Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande is the youngest member of New Jersey’s 213th Legislature, and the youngest Assemblywoman ever elected in New Jersey. Casagrande was born Nov. 21, 1976, and has been a lifelong resident of Monmouth County. She graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School, Penn State University and Rutgers School of Law – Camden, before returning to Monmouth County to practice law.

Her political career began during her college years, when Assemblywoman Casagrande was elected Student Body President of Penn State. She soon launched her legal career between semesters of law school, clerking at the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and at the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office, Division of Law, focusing on insurance and banking, and corrections and state police.

After graduating from law school, Casagrande clerked for the New Jersey Superior Court Judge Robert O’Hagan in Freehold. Casagrande served as a partner in the firm of Menna, Supko and Casagrande in Shrewsbury and as municipal attorney to Manalapan Township and special counsel to Fair Haven. A member of the Assembly Judiciary and State Government committees, Casagrande uses her experience in municipal legal practice to inform her legislative decisions.

During Casagrande’s successful campaign for Assembly in 2007, she was endorsed by the New Jersey Fraternal Order of Police, the Republican Leadership Council, the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey and the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association.

Casagrande is a resident of Colts Neck, where she lives with her husband Stephen Chance, son Harrison, and her beagle, Winston Churchill.
